Avondale Community Area shares its northern border with Irving Park Community Area and starts where the Metra Milwaukee District North Line crosses Belmont Ave (3200N) at 4300W. Moving East along Belmont Ave to Pulaski Rd (4000W), the boundary heads North to Addison St (3600N), and then East to the North Branch of the Chicago River at about 2700W. The East edge, shared with North Center Community Area, continues South down the river to Western Ave (2400W) at 3000N, then South on Western Ave to Diversey Ave (2800N). Neighboring Logan Square Community Area shares the southern border of Avondale Community Area beginning at Western Ave and Diversey Ave, West to the Metra Line. The Metra Milwaukee District North Line comprises the western border between Belmont Ave and Diversey Ave and is common to Hermosa Community Area.
