South Chicago Community Area shares its northern most border with South Shore Community Area. Head East on 79th St from South Chicago Ave and Stony Island Ave (around 7500S and 1200E) to Cheltenham Pl (2980E). The remainder of the North boundary roughly follows Cheltenham Pl to Cheltenham Dr eastward out to the lake. The South West border begins at Stony Island Ave and 79th St and follows South Chicago Ave to 95th St (9500S) at the 3200E coordinate, and East to the Calumet River. The East limit follows the Calumet River out to Lake Michigan. Neighbors to the East are Avalon Park Community Area and Calumet Heights Community Area; and neighbors in the South are South Deering Community Area and East Side Community Area.
